37) a good job

meaning = عمل جيد a good state of job
He did a good job on his term paper and got the good grade he deserved

38) put-up job

meaning =عمل مخادع او مزور a fake or false job
The whole thing was a put-up job to make him agree to the deal
-------------------------

39) have a job to do

meaning = عمل صعب a difficult job to do
You have a job to do convincing your teacher that you were sick
-------------------------

40) on the job

meaning = في العمل أو مشغول at work; busy
I don't like to be interrupted by anybody when I'm on the job

41) drop by

meaning = يزور = pay a visit
Mr. Frown doesn't like his friends to drop by to see him that often

42) drop out

meaning = ينسحب = stop or withdraw
Four of the competitors dropped out of the car race

meaning = جزء قليل أو ضئيل = a small amount

meaning = يفكر مليا أو يأخذ بعين الاعتبار= consider
In pricing products, one should take into account the cost price and the purchasing power of the customers

meaning = يبرر أو يفسر = serve as an explanation
Her foolishness accounts for the loss of all her wealth

52) break new ground

meaning = يتقدم =to advance beyond previous achievements
Industries broke new ground in the field of computers

meaning = يتهرب من الاجابة = avoid giving a direct answer
Quit beating around the bush! If you don't want to go with me, just tell me

54) Beats me

meaning = ليس لدي أي فكرة = I have no idea
A: "What time's the party
B: "Beats me

55) bent out of shape

meaning = = قلق بدون داعي حيال أمر ما = needlessly worried about something
I know you're worried about your job interview, but don't get bent out of shape.
You'll do just fine




الجزء الخامس

56) have a face like thunder

meaning = لديه ملامح غضب على وجهه = to have a very angry expression
I don't know what had happened but he had a face like thunder

meaning = =أن لا يكون صادقا تماما في ما يقول = to not be completely honest about something
He was economical with the truth - he gave her a censored account of what was discussed

58) throw a wobbly

meaning = يغضب فجأة = to suddenly become very angry
She saw Peter talking to an attractive blonde and threw a wobbly
-------------------------

59) be/feel under the weather

meaning = يشعر بالمرض = to feel ill
I'm feeling a little under the weather - I think I may have caught a cold

60) be on cloud nine

meaning = يشعر بالمرض = to be very happy
For a few days after I'd heard I'd got the job, I was on cloud nine

61) climb/get on your high horse

meaning = يغضب على شيء و يبدأ بإنتقاد الآخرين كأنه أفضل منهم = become angry about a subject and start criticizing people as if they are better than them
It's no good getting on your high horse about single parents. You can't force people to get married

62) bring home the bacon

meaning = يعمل لكسب لقمة عيشه = to earn money to live on
If Jo's going to be at home looking after the kids, someone needs to bring home the bacon

63) bring somebody to book

meaning = يعاقب = to punish someone
A crime has been committed and whoever is responsible must be brought to book
-------------------------

64) bring somebody/something to their knees

meaning = يهزم أو يدمر شخص أو شيء = to destroy or defeat someone or something
Sanctions were imposed in an attempt to bring the country to its knees
The strikes brought the economy to its knees
-------------------------

65) bring a lump to your throat
meaning = يقول أو يفعل شيئا يجعلك تشعر بمشاعر قوية تدفعك إلى البكاء = if something someone says or does brings a lump to your throat, it makes you feel such strong emotions that you want to cry
-------------------------
